Biography

I was born in 1953 in Győr, Hungary. Today I live in Becehegy near Lake Balaton and in Győr. I graduated from the Window Dressing School in Budapest in 1976 and the Teacher Training College in Pécs in 1981, majoring in drawing and geography.

This period was the golden age of Pécs’s fine arts life and the birthplace of modern visual pedagogy. Ferenc Martyn was still alive, and his student Ferenc Lantos was active, whose art and spirituality permeated teacher training and artistic life.

At the college, I attended Dénes Horváth’s class for four years, whom I consider my master. I became a member of the Color Dynamics TDK led by him, and of national and international color theory research. These years determined my thinking as an art educator and artist, and in this spirit I compiled the pedagogical program of our own art school. (Leonardo Elementary Art Institute, Győr)

During my decades-long teaching career, I had to introduce and apply a wide range of techniques, styles and themes, so diversity is also present in my own work. What is constant is the close bond with the natural environment at all times. The scenery of the Danube River, Lake Balaton, the meadows and backwaters by the water constantly inspires me. My paintings often combine surfaces, shapes and scenes with opposing effects, I am constantly looking for the harmony hidden in contrasts.

My abstract works also begin outdoors, where I use plants as a tool, involving them in the creative process. (Organic abstract) I also like gesture painting, frottage and direct printing.

My most significant solo exhibition entitled “Picture in Picture” was held in Győr in 2014, at the Rómer Flóris Museum of Art and History.

I am a member of the ART9000 group and the Becehegyi Painters group.
